About the Artist

Kim Oaks has studied ceramics in Texas, North Carolina, Wisconsin, China, and Vietnam. She currently splits her studio time between Madison, Wisconsin and Shenzhen, China.

"I began, as many potters do, with an intro class 'just for fun' when I was 17. That fun hobby eventually lead me to art school and the passion for pottery that has continued for the past 30 years. I've gained experience by practicing and participating in ceramics being made in many different ways around the world; from massive production factories to wheels spun by hand while squatting in the dirt. The education (and sometimes pitfalls) of building several studios and kilns on two different continents was a humbling and exhilarating experience.

I consider myself lucky every day that I get to spend my time creating beauty from the earth, and even more so when I can share those pieces with others."
